On the beautiful morning of December 26, 2004, a 9.0 earthquake centered just off the coast of the western tip of Indonesia created a massive tsunami, or tidal wave. The quake sent massive waves of seawater crashing into coastal towns and communities, wiping entire villages out across the Asian subcontinent, Thailand, India and as far off as Africa. In the path of the deadly waves was a small beachside orphanage run by a Tamil Christian, Daylan Sanders, near Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.
